Pray

“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”   Luke 11:9-10

Jesus gave His disciples this command shortly after teaching them to pray “Our Father…”  Here He tells His disciples to ask boldly and believe that they will receive what they ask.

Working in the disaster zone, we see prayers answered every day!  So much so, that we’ve gotten pretty bold in our requests to God and to you!

When you pray, would you please say, Bless the people in the Gulf Coast, give them comfort, strength, and restore them.

Bless the volunteers and staff of RAI Ministries as they go about this good and merciful work – sharing the hope and mercy of Jesus Christ.  Keep them from all harm and danger.

And Heavenly Father, bless the work of Your church.  Use the good things that have come from this disaster to invigorate your people, to energize their congregations, and motivate them to share the Good News and hope of Jesus Christ in their own communities.

Regarding the Devastation of Hurricane Katrina

A Statement from LCMS President Gerald B. Kieschnick (From Berlin, Germany at International Lutheran Council Conference)

“It is obvious that the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina is of unprecedented proportions.  I trust that the response of love and care by the people of congregations of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, which has already begun, will also be unprecedented in its magnitude.  The people of the LCMS are encouraged to give generously in financial support and also, as appropriate, of their time and talent to assist those in need, showing the compassion of Christ.  We trust that even in the midst of this tragedy, the words of St. Paul in Romans chapter eight are true, that “in all things God works for the good of those who love him…”

Please keep all affected by this devastating storm in your prayers.
